Paint the Town Red Lighting
The classic coastal New England destination of Kennebunkport, ME, is literally painting the town red for romance this February to make its claim as “New England’s Most Romantic Town.” All businesses in Dock Square in downtown Kennebunkport will be decked out in red twinkly lights, and the restaurants, hotels, galleries and shops will welcome romantically inclined visitors with savings, from Red Plate dining specials to Five Shades of Red hotel packages, and Red Tag sales from retailers.
On Saturday, January 31st, the flip will be switched and local businesses will be aglow in red for love and romance. Additionally, an eight-foot heart adorned with glowing red Maine lobster traps will serve as an icon for the initiative, centrally located in Dock square.
Throughout the month of February, locals and travelers alike can visit www.destinationkennebunkport.com/love or pick up a “Book of Love” and map at participating business to find more than 30 different offers, including romantic dinners featuring Maine lobsters, lodging packages with add-ons such as chocolate-covered strawberries and champagne, and significant shopping discounts.
Additionally, visitors who snap a picture in front of the lovekpt heart in Dock Square and share it on social media using the campaign hashtag, #lovekpt, will be entered into a sweepstakes to win a romantic stay for two at the Kennebunkport Inn. Two winners will be selected; one from entries between now and January 1st and the second from entries between January 2nd through February.
One of Kennebunkport's signature annual events, the Kennebunkport Festival is an early summer gathering of friends new and old. A celebration of the good life in Maine. Our quintessential coastal community is the setting for this multi-venue Festival that’s all about inspired good times. From the chefs and artists who use their talents to excite palates and imaginations to the hoteliers, homeowners, innkeepers, and gallery owners who welcome you with open arms, the Festival is truly a collaborative event where all involved share a single vision: give you an epic and ever-so-memorable start to your summer.
Christmas Prelude is our community's largest annual event, welcoming thousands of guests each year! Enjoy tree lightings, craft fairs, public suppers, caroling at the Monastary and more. Visit the Christmas Prelude website for the daily schedules and more information.
